Alejandra – Digital Manipulation

art project questioning reoccurrence and ritual as a distraction to the uncertainties of tomorrow
Alejandra is a stunning women. She is a mother of two and appears to be successful. She lives in Guadalajara and travels twice a month to Tijuana in Baja California Sur. Once upon a time, her heart was full of love and she had a dream to have a perfect family. She did everything possible to orchestrate happiness. However, her daily reality is harsh and in a total contradiction to her earlier ambitions, aspirations and desires. She has now reached her mid-30s and cannot see any potential for change.
This is a portrait of a sensitive and fragile Colombian girl living a long way from home. She is determined and focused, planning for her future, but wishing to be loved in an environment that is harsh and unfeeling. Her ephemeral youth and perfection will vanish with transience of life. Will her dreams and desires be fulfilled in the passing of time?
I have supported my painting with two video experimentations, which bring the character to life.

I have just received a certificate to verify my participation “In The History” group exhibition at King House Gallery as one of the finalists.
Dear Artist,
It’s our pleasure to announce that our “In the History” Group Exhibition is coming up – and we are sure it will look phenomenal!
If you are receiving this email, it’s because your artwork has been received at the gallery and has been successfully installed in the exhibition.
The exhibition will run from the Saturday (31/07/21) to the following Saturday (07/08/21), and is being held at King House Gallery (7 The Minories, off Henley Street, CV376NF). If you are driving, the closest car park is the “Windsor Street Shoppers Car Park”, 21 Windsor St, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 6NL. The opening event will happen on Saturday (31/07), with live music (violinist) from 11.30 am to 2.30pm, and a professional photographer from 11am to 4pm. We have a gorgeous backdrop on the exhibition floor, and would love to take several photos of you with your friends/family there – as well as ones of you with your painting, of course!
If you have any COVID symptoms, please do not attend the event and self-isolate as recommended by current guidelines.
The forecast for Saturday is warm but rainy (but then again, it’s England, we only going to know for sure on the day). But fingers crossed we get to get an alright weather, as it makes a significant difference for events’ footfall on weekends. The Ads are out to get us as many visitants as possible, and we can’t wait to see how it goes.
Between the 2nd to 6th of August, it’s required booking to visit the gallery. Private viewings during the week are still free and can be booked on this link: https://www.theartistlounge.org/inthehistory-exhibition
The final day is on Saturday, the 7th of August. For the Saturday, bookings are not required. Everyone is welcome to visit from 10am to 5pm.
I have just been awarded with this prestigious award.
Ariel’s fantastic ballet career is over. She is no longer able to reach the gates of heaven during her never-ending pirouettes and glamorous jumps. Her body is now deformed and she feels constant pain. Her twisted joints are permanently inflamed and swollen. Her potential to perform and inspire is forever gone. Underneath her fake pose and put on facade, she is very down to Earth. She has never enjoyed dancing. It was her parents dream, which destroyed her future, health and beautiful body… Once upon a time, her mother had one distinct ambition in life – she wanted to become a famous ballet dancer.
My artwork is now exhibited at a brand new Interactive Online Exhibition! The show is titled ‘In the History’ and organised by the prestigious The Artist Lounge. 70 artworks were selected for the display and 20 finalists will be announced at the end of July.
“In the History” Art Competition called for artists worldwide, from April to May 2021, to share their artworks inspired by history or by historic characters.
“Through history we can learn how past societies, systems and ideologies were built, how they changed, and how their influence moulded humanity to create what we are now. History is more than old tales and stories written down in books. History is part of everything, and our today will one day be history.”
The Artist Lounge is proud to announce the semi-finalists of our “In the History” Art Competition, now part of our Online Exhibition below. Our talented artists come from all around the world and the collection of their artworks is a piece of art on itself. We welcome you all to this fantastic journey:
